Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday said he is “100% against removing” monuments that commemorate Confederate leaders, FloridaPolitics reported.
“I think it’s just gone too far,” DeSantis said in Jacksonville in response to a question from a reporter about proposed legislation to punish municipalities for taking down Confederate statues.
“I have not seen the legislation, but I’ve been very clear ever since I’ve been governor, I do not support taking down monuments in this state. … I think it’s totally appropriate for the Legislature to say we’re going to stop the madness.”
